Description

Semaglutide (CAS 910463-68-2) is a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) analog produced through biotechnological fermentation using genetic recombinant technology. It stimulates insulin secretion in a glucose-dependent manner by activating GLP-1 receptors, and is used for blood glucose control in adult patients with type 2 diabetes. The long-acting mechanism of semaglutide is based on structural modifications, where an 18-carbon fatty acid side chain is attached to the 26th lysine residue of the peptide. This modification increases the molecular weight of semaglutide and enhances its affinity for albumin by 5-6 times, thereby preventing rapid renal clearance and metabolic degradation, thereby extending its half-life in the body.
